The most important thing to know about Milo's Return is that it was never intended to be a movie. Originally, Disney planned an animated TV series titled . However, after the first film underperformed at the box office, the series was cancelled mid-production.
Because of its episodic roots, the film is split into three distinct "chapters" where Milo and Queen Kida reunite with their old surface-world crew to investigate disturbances linked to Atlantean technology.
