The original version was recorded in 2001 and uploaded to the music community site SectionZ in June 2002. At the time, Joel used the alias Halcyon441 .

Joel previewed a reworked version on Ustream in April 2011, noting he had made the original "ten years ago". This remake officially debuted live during his tour in Malaysia and the Meowingtons Hax Tour later that year.
