Backspace Key -

In some Unix-like environments, terminal emulators, or SSH sessions, pressing the backspace key might incorrectly output ^H or ^? instead of performing a deletion. This happens because of a mismatch between the control characters expected by the host server and those sent by the terminal.

On Windows systems, Backspace erases to the left, while Delete erases to the right.
