Fueled by cheap whiskey and greed, Willie Soke (Thornton) is roped into one last job by his former partner Marcus Skidmore (Tony Cox), who is fresh out of prison. The plan, orchestrated by Willie's estranged and equally reprobate mother, Sunny Soke (Kathy Bates), involves robbing a Chicago-based charity on Christmas Eve. Complicating matters is the return of Thurman Merman (Brett Kelly), now 21 years old but still a naive, cheery presence who forces his way into Willie's life.
