Donato Bramante (1444–1514) was the primary architect who bridged the early Renaissance and the High Renaissance, fundamentally reshaping the visual identity of Rome. Known for his mastery of perspective and geometric symmetry, he sought to revitalize the city under the patronage of Pope Julius II.
