Brm - The Lair.mp4 Review

The film offers decent, visceral gore with plenty of blood splatter. The action sequences are generally considered solid and fast-paced, aiming for a "fun popcorn" feel.

The Lair is a 97-minute action-horror feature directed by Neil Marshall ( The Descent , Dog Soldiers ) and co-written with Charlotte Kirk. It is described as a "military monster mash" that combines creature features with a 1980s B-movie vibe. The story follows a Royal Air Force pilot, Lieutenant Kate Sinclair (Kirk), who is shot down over Afghanistan, escapes into an abandoned Soviet bunker, and unleashes man-made, half-human, half-alien biological weapons. “There's nary a dull moment, albeit no truly memorable ones either. It's a movie more hectic than exciting, let alone scary. But it does move along at a brisk clip that attests to the director's knack for staging and pacing splattery action.” Variety · 3 years ago The film offers decent, visceral gore with plenty

“The man-in-a-suit approach to the mutant creatures does give the whole thing that vintage Roger Corman B-movie vibe, and when the proverbial does start to hit the fan there is much joy to be had...” Flickering Myth · 2 years ago It is described as a "military monster mash"

A highlight for many, the film uses "men in suits" for the creatures rather than pure CGI, which gives it a fun, retro Roger Corman aesthetic.

The monster design is generally regarded as cool and effective.
