Suddenly, his mouse began to move on its own. It dragged a new file——into the bin. Then another. He watched as the numbers counted down, a reverse countdown of his own digital history.
Inside were photos. Not stock images, but candid shots of Elias’s own living room, taken from the perspective of the ceiling fan. In the photos, he wasn't alone. He was sitting on the sofa, mid-laugh, with a woman whose face was blurred by digital static. He didn't know her. He had lived alone for five years. The Recursive Loop Elias tried to delete the folder, but a prompt blocked him:
