Do not power off the device. It will automatically reboot when finished (usually 2–5 minutes).
Click Browse , select your downloaded .bin file, and click Update Software . Download openwrt brcm63xx generic HG556a squashfs cfe bin
Power the router back on while continuing to hold the button for about 12–15 seconds. Do not power off the device
Open your browser and go to http://192.168.1.1 . You should see a "Broadcom - CFE MiniWeb Server" page. select your downloaded .bin file
The DSL modem functionality on Broadcom (BCM63xx) chips is not supported in OpenWrt because the drivers are proprietary and closed-source. You can use the router as an Access Point or for ethernet-based routing, but not as a DSL modem.
