The two moved at once. The invader lunged where 001 had been, but the hero was already mid-rotation, its flaming blade carving a brilliant circle into the stone floor. As the steel hummed, 001 stepped into a low stance, the wave of its blade catching the dummy's spear and sending a jarring vibration through the wood. With a final burst of fire, Unit 001 struck upward, leaving the dummy as nothing more than charred scrap and drifting ash.
The air in the training yard was thick with the scent of ozone and heated iron. Before the grand strategist stood , the first of the Flamberge initiative. Its blade wasn't like the straight, predictable steel of the infantry; it was undulated, a wave-edged Flamberge sword designed to vibrate against an opponent's weapon and force it from their grip. Unit 001 didn't move yet. In this world, movement was a dance of foresight. The strategist plotted a path: three steps forward, a low sweep to brace against recoil, and a finishing upward strike. Across the yard, the training dummy—a clockwork invader—was already whirring, its internal gears predicting a standard thrust. "Execute."
