The story finds Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) in 1994, believing he is the last of his kind. However, he soon discovers a new threat: (Mario Van Peebles), a powerful sorcerer who had been magically entombed for centuries in a cave in Japan by MacLeod's former mentor, Nakano (Mako). When archaeologists inadvertently release Kane and his henchmen, the "Gathering" resumes.
