The story follows the protagonist, a young man plagued by constant misfortune, who visits a local shrine in hopes of changing his luck. There, he encounters two cat-eared shrine maidens (miko), and Kotone . The narrative explores the "cat's gratitude" trope, as these supernatural beings decide to live with him to help improve his fortunes.
