The episode follows (played by Katherine McNamara), an affluent Bostonian traveling west with her husband, Liam, who is set to become the new Sheriff of Independence, Texas . Their journey takes a tragic turn when Liam is murdered before they reach the town. Left for dead, Abby eventually makes her way to Independence, where she assumes a new identity and seeks justice for her husband’s death while discovering that the town is a frontier boomtown where "nothing is what it seems".
