In 1936, archaeologist Indiana Jones is hired by the U.S. government to find the biblical Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis, who seek its power for world domination. Jones, aided by Marion Ravenwood , navigates dangerous traps and rival archeologist René Belloq to locate the artifact in Egypt. After the Nazis seize the Ark, Jones and Marion survive the divine, destructive power of the opened vessel, which eliminates the Nazi forces.
