After five months in a coma, Mama Solis (Juanita) awakens and attempts to call Carlos to reveal Gabrielle’s affair. However, she slips on a freshly mopped hospital floor and falls down a flight of stairs, leading to her death. To avoid a lawsuit, the hospital offers Gabrielle a large monetary settlement, which she views as a way to secure her financial future after Carlos goes to jail.
