Federal agents Richard Sullins and Felicia Lang arrive at Sona with a life-changing offer for Mahone: a plea bargain. In exchange for testifying against the government conspiracy and Lincoln Burrows, Mahone is offered a reduced sentence of eight years in a minimum-security facility. Facing a lifetime in Sona, he ultimately accepts the deal and leaves the prison.

An inmate named Andrew Tyge is found stabbed to death, and becomes the primary suspect. Michael is forced to pause his escape preparations to prove Whistler's innocence, knowing that if Whistler is killed by the other inmates, his own ticket out of Sona disappears. Michael eventually discovers the murder weapon under Alexander Mahone's bed, but before he can act, Mahone is escorted out of the prison.
