The tension peaks when Meemaw admits she came to town specifically to "size Amy up" and decide if she was worthy of the family engagement ring Sheldon had intended to give her. After a heated exchange where Amy stands her ground and Sheldon finally defends his girlfriend to his grandmother, Meemaw softens.
