When he looked up, the painting had changed. The vortex was gone. In its place was a quiet, ashen field under a grey sky. The glowing gem was now just a dull, dark stone lying in the dirt. The people were gone.

Silas stepped out of the shadows, his expression unreadable. He looked at the neutralized canvas and then at the burn marks on Elias’s skin.

Elias moved toward the light. In the center of the rotunda stood a canvas draped in heavy velvet. This was the , a piece rumored to have been painted with pigments ground from volcanic glass and the ashes of a forgotten kingdom. As Elias reached for the cloth, the pulsing grew stronger, a warm vibration that made his fingertips tingle. He pulled the velvet away. The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberston...

A sound like shattering glass echoed through the hall. The heat vanished instantly, replaced by a sudden, icy draft. The fiery tendrils retreated into the canvas, leaving Elias gasping on the floor.

The heavy mahogany doors of The Gallery groaned as Elias stepped inside, the scent of turpentine and ancient dust clinging to the air. Behind him, the city of Oakhaven was drowning in a relentless rain, but inside, the silence was absolute—until a faint, rhythmic pulsing began to thrum through the floorboards. "You’re late, Elias," a voice rasped from the shadows. When he looked up, the painting had changed

As Elias walked away, he didn't notice the small, glowing ember that had jumped from the canvas onto the hem of his coat, smoldering quietly in the dark. The glowing gem was now just a dull,

Suddenly, the red paint surged forward. Thin, fiery tendrils lashed out from the canvas, wrapping around Elias's wrists. He didn't pull away; he couldn't. The Emberstone wasn't just a painting of a lost kingdom—it was a trying to rebuild itself using his warmth.
