After years of hunting psychopathic killers in Los Angeles, FBI agent (James Spader) relocates to Chicago, suffering from guilt and migraines following a failed attempt to save a victim. However, his nemesis, the serial killer David Allen Griffin (Keanu Reeves), follows him to the new city, bored of his Los Angeles successor and eager to continue their "relationship".
