In a major twist halfway through the episode, protagonist Adam Lawrence (played by Charlie Cox) is shot dead. The confrontation occurs at a cargo yard where Adam, Maddy, and Kara have just retrieved a hard drive containing Angelis’s incriminating "kompromat" files. CIA agent Dede Alexander, believing Angelis's lie that Adam is the elusive double agent "Dorian," holds him at gunpoint. When Adam lunges to protect his family and stop Dede from taking the files, she shoots and kills him.
