Captain Bouridan, a roguish adventurer, arrives in Paris and becomes suspicious when bodies begin washing ashore. He eventually allows himself to be lured to the tower to uncover the truth.

Bouridan discovers he was once the Queen's lover and that some of the victims were actually his own sons, whom the Queen tried to eliminate to hide her past.
